“Do you like these jeans
on me?” A friend asked her best girlfriend while out shopping at the mall.
“They’re a little tight.
What size are they?” her skinnier friend asked.
“A size 6. That’s what
size I’ve always worn, not mess with me,” the thicker friend commented.
“Have you lost weight, I
mean they’re tight, but they look great?”
The thicker friend just
rolled her eyes, and went in the dressing room. The boutique only had one
dressing room. She knew that her skinny friend would try on her jeans after
her. Her friend always waited until she felt terrible about herself, before
trying on her clothes that made her look perfect in every way. As she stood
there looking at herself in the mirror, she admired her curves. She ran her
hands over her curvaceous figure and loved what she seen in the mirror. “I am a
perfect size 6,” she said to herself.
She came out of the
dressing room, with her chosen jeans and sat on the sofa next to her skinny
friend. “Your turn,” the thicker friend said.
“This will only take a
second, they had my size 2 jeans in every color that I wanted them in. I just
need to try on one pair.”
As the thicker girl
waited for her friend, she looked around the boutique at all the clothes on the
racks and the shelves. They have shopped here many times before, in fact they
come to this boutique so often that the store clerk knew them by name. Just
then she could see her skinny friend through the curtain in the dressing room.
She was checking out her body in the mirror with just her bra on, and the pair
of jeans she took in.
There was something odd
about the way the jeans looked on her. Something somewhat familiar about what
was shaping above the jean line; could it be? A muffin top? “No way” she
thought, skinny girls are all bones, they don’t have enough fat to produce a
muffin top. She didn’t want her friend to notice her staring so she tried to
look away, but she had no choice but to look.
Her friend never did come
out of that dressing room. But she mentioned how perfect the jeans were on her,
and that she was purchasing every color.
The thick girl did not
want to say anything to discourage her friend, so she just quietly laughed to
herself, “Skinny girls can have muffin tops too!”
